APRIL 2024

SYDENY, NSW, AUS

April 14

Happy NO Birthday to Hunter and I, we are basically 22 for two years! We left Detroit on April 12th and Landed in Sydney on the 14th! We meet Olivia outside of the airport happy to see her after not seeing her for 4 months! We walked around the downtown sydney, going up to the famous Sydney Opera House, then walked over to the Museum of Contemporary Art, viewing beautiful works by Aborigional and Māori peoples! We went back to the hotel, hunter and I crahsed at 6pm because of the severe time change!

April 15

We spent the day with Olivia in Manly Beach, the town she was staying at! We spent the day on the beach lounging around, chasing the wild turkeys away from our food and snorkeling, trying to find fish near the shore! We met up with some or her new friends for dinner and watched the sunset at Manly before taking the Ferry back to Sydney!

April 16

Hunter and I got up early and walked by St. Mary’s Cathedral and went to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. A truly amazing gallery showing all types of art, from picasso to indigenous abroiginal works! We took the bus to Auburn Botanic Gardens and visited theor Japanese Tea Garden. We saw all sorts of critters, from Lizards to Kangaroos!

April 17

We decided to go ultimate tourist and went to Sydney Sea Life Aquarium, there were so many little kids on field trips we could barely make it through. We saw the cutest little Dugong, they are similar to Manatees but not the same due to cliamte and behaviors. We visited the Maritime Muesum and explored the different ships and a submarine while we waited for Olivia to get out of class. We took the ferry across the bay to the Taronga Zoo, we saw Cabybaras before the zoo closed, our hearts were full.

April 18

We took the train out to Wollongong, and made the 45 minute walk to Nan Tien Temple. A gorgeous buddhist temple built ontop of a hill. We spent half the day there, eating some lunch in their tea house, we went back into Wollongong and climbed the rocks along the shoreline. We rook the train back to Sydney after the long day in Wollongong.

April 19

We took the bus to Bondi Beach. We spent the day laying on the beach and getting knocked down by the waves. We walked around the famous iceberg pool, you had to pay so we said no thanks! We explored around the cliffs and rocks playing with the small sea creatures we found along the way. We ended the night on a Yacht cruise with Olivia’s school dancing and drinking as we floated around the Harbour.

April 20

We spent the day around Sydney, going to the local farmers market under the harboour bridge, find small trinkets to bring back to the States with us. We spent the day visiting the Sydney Eye and the Saint Mary’s Cathederal in the afternoon as the rain poured. We visited the Sydney Opera House one last time, taking a tour to truly admire the architecture from the inside. It truly is a must see in Sydney! We ended our night going to the gay club not too far from the hotel, dancing with new friends and strangers until midnight, we left for home at 5am the next morning.
